Ingredients and Substitutions
This 5-ingredient chocolatey snack comes together with pantry staples you can find at most grocery stores! Scroll to the recipe card at the end of this post for the full recipe with ingredient amounts.

- Red-Stuffed Limited Edition Oreos: They add a lovely pop of color when you bite into them.
- White candy melts: Easier than real white chocolate because they don't need tempering and won't seize as easily. Use white chocolate or white chocolate chips if preferred.
- Green food coloring: Oil-based or powder coloring is best. Avoid water-based ones to prevent seizing.
- Mini pretzel sticks: Broken mini pretzels are fine.
- Sprinkles: Green sprinkles or Christmas nonpareils add festive color.
See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make White Chocolate Covered Oreos
This easy dessert is a breeze to whip up because it doesn't require an oven, and the whole family can help out! All you need to do is dip, drizzle, and decorate.

- Step 1: Place the white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second bursts, stirring after each round until completely smooth and melted. Set aside about ¼ cup of the melted chocolate in a small bowl for the green drizzle later.

- Step 2: Using a fork, dip each Oreo into the melted white chocolate, flipping to coat both sides evenly. Gently tap off any excess coating and lay the cookies on a parchment-lined tray.

- Step 3: Transfer the tray to the refrigerator and chill for 10–15 minutes, or until the white chocolate coating has fully set.

- Step 4: Stir a few drops of oil-based green food coloring into the reserved ¼ cup of melted white chocolate until you reach your desired shade of green. Keep this bowl in a warm water bath while the cookies chill to maintain a smooth, drizzly consistency.

5. Step 5: Transfer the green-colored chocolate to a piping bag and snip off the tip for easy drizzling.

6. Step 6: Once the Oreos are set, drizzle the green chocolate over each cookie in a zig-zag pattern to create a Christmas tree design.

7. Step 7: While the green drizzle is still wet, press a small pretzel stick piece at the bottom of each tree to form the trunk. Immediately top with Christmas sprinkles and, if desired, a dusting of edible glitter for a festive sparkle.

8. Step 8: Return the tray to the refrigerator for 5–10 minutes, or until the green drizzle and pretzel trunks are completely set before serving.
Variations
These holiday season Oreo cookie Christmas trees are easy to switch up depending on what you have at home! Try these yummy twists:
Snowy trees: Use baby blue food coloring instead of green for the drizzle, and use silver edible glitter instead of sprinkles for a snowy Christmas tree look.
Peppermint crunch: Use Mint Creme Oreos as the base and crushed candy canes instead of sprinkles.
Santa's hat: Skip the pretzel stick. Make a red drizzle with red food coloring and add it to the chocolate-covered Oreos as usual. Pipe a small dot of the mixture on the tip of the "tree", and press a mini white M&M on top. They'll look like Santa hats.
Golden sparkle: Use gold luster dust or gold sprinkles over the green drizzle for a luxurious, festive touch. Perfect for elegant holiday dessert tables.
Winter berries: Add tiny red candy pearls or mini red M&Ms over the green drizzle to resemble holly berries for a classic Christmas tree look.
Rainbow trees: Use multicolored sprinkles for a colorful Christmas tree lights vibe.

Top Tips for White Chocolate Covered Oreos
These simple tips and tricks will ensure your white Christmas tree Oreos shine every time:
Work in batches: If you prefer to set aside the candy melts for the green mixture to melt after all the Oreos have been coated in white chocolate, that's fine too. The key is to make sure the green drizzle is warm and pourable when decorating.
Work quickly: Don't wait for the green drizzle to set before adding the pretzel trunks or sprinkles, otherwise, they won't stick to the Oreos.
Tap off excess chocolate: Prevents pooling once on the parchment-lined tray for a clean look.
Keep it classic: Regular or double-stuffed Oreos work too if your local grocery store is out of the limited-edition red-stuffed ones I used for this recipe.
Use a fork for dipping: A fork helps coat Oreos evenly in melted chocolate and lets the excess drip off easily before placing them on the tray.
Store properly: Once set, keep the Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate if your kitchen is warm.

This recipe is such a holiday lifesaver because it's genuinely simple (just 5 ingredients!) but looks incredibly festive and special. It's the perfect little project if you want to get the kids involved in holiday baking, they always have the best time decorating the little pretzel trunks and Christmas trees.
If you give them a try, let me know what color sprinkles you used! Did you stick to the classic red and green, or get creative? I love seeing all the different ways you guys decorate them!
